Book Beginnings, Friday56 & A Mini-Ramble : Amy Avanzino's Wake-up Call

Amazon Description: Sarah Winslow wakes up with a terrible hangover…and a kid in her boyfriend’s bed. She makes the horrifying discovery that, due to a head injury, it’s not a hangover. She’s got memory loss. Overnight, five years have disappeared, and she’s no longer the hard-living, fast-track, ad executive party girl she thinks she is. Now, she’s the unemployed, pudgy, married, stay-at-home-mom of three kids under five, including twins.
As she slowly pieces together the mystery of how her dreams and aspirations could have disintegrated so completely in five short years, she finds herself utterly failing to manage this life she can’t imagine choosing. When Sarah meets the man of her dreams, she realizes she’s got to make a choice: Does she follow her bliss and “do-over” her life? Or does the Sarah she’s forgotten hold the answers to how she got here…and how she can stay?
Mini-Ramble: I haven't finished the book yet but Azanzino would have to have majorly screwed something up in the last 35% to make it be something that I wouldn't recommend to anyone who enjoy's chick lit. Sarah goes from 28 to 33 overnight -- including five years of life experience with marriage, kids, and stay-at-home momness in the 'burbs. I keep thinking about how I would have freaked out if I had gone from my own 28 to my own 33.
Yeah ... serious freakout (especially since I didn't live in the same city yet or know my Tom even existed at the time).
It's definitely been an interesting read seeing how she and everyone else works on adjusting. Sometimes hilarious ... sometimes frustrating ... sometimes heart-wrenching. Basically all the making of a great chick lit!

As always, Friday 56 (share a blurb from the 56th page or 56% mark) is hosted at Freda's Voice & Book Beginnings (share the first few sentences) is at Rose City Reader.

Sounds like an interesting book, I have to be in a chick lit kind of mood to enjoy them but sometimes I do. :)

I'm not big into chick lit, but good writing is good writing, no matter the genre. This does sound a bit funny.

A synopsis like this is always fun. At first I was thinking hangover. It's much worse than that. I'm curious how it ends up.

Interesting BB! Sounds like they've been drugged, never a good thing. Makes you feel protective about the character too because they sound helpless x
