Double Feature Friday : Two by Sarah M Eden (Book Beginnings & Friday 56)

It's been an odd week or so in the whole reading/working/mothering/working/surviving life.

I wasn't originally intending on having two to post today. Heck, I wasn't really sure I would even have one. As it turned out, though, thanks to a scheduling flub at work and my inability to sleep, the first one was finished Tuesday and then the second about 26 hours later. I had already made the teaser images for each as I tend to do so before I even really start reading a book so I can figure out if it will be a Friday or a Tuesday or a Sunday or ..... whatever.  They were both good 56%s and then I accidentally flew through them so .... here you go. I probably should save one for a Friday when I really don't care but .... nope. I'm hoping it won't come to that and that things will slow down a bit with the whole life thing.

As it is, though, I'm just throwing the images down and then copying/pasting my goodreads rambles. That's about what my brain can handle right now.

The first book in the series was rambled about July 12th. Click HERE for that. You don't necessarily have to read the rambles in order but you most definitely have to read the books in order.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 ... and then back down to 3 because I realized that the half with the round up probably had more to do with the continuations from the first book than this one on its own. If I had tried to read it as a standalone I honestly don't know if I would have been able to finish it.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to run head-first into the next book because Brogan has been a favorite since the beginning. Of course, I was also quite enamored with Hollis so we'll see if Brogan can at least hang on to the half star or even warrant a full four.

And speaking of fours ... I'm more than a bit annoyed that Stone isn't the main focus of the fourth book ... like, almost to the point of not being sure I even care even though getting the fourth on NetGalley is why I backtracked to get the others.

Had I but known.

*******

Well, Brogan and Móirín (and Vera, of course) pulled it out and managed 4 solid stars ... even though I admittedly skipped pretty much all of the intermittent penny dreadful installments along the way so I could just focus on the main story. I'll go back later and read them each straight through, I'm sure.

It was slow going here and there and I missed the ongoing presence of the DPS quite, well, dreadfully. It worked in the long haul though.

May not dive right into the fourth like I did from the second to the third. I've got a month until publication, after all, and I'm still not overly excited about it not being all about Stone.

Stone and Móirín, preferably. I would so love to see those two burn up the pages and anyone who dares to get in their path.
